What Affects Graft Count?

4 Factors That Determine
Your Exact Number

Hair Loss Stage

Your Norwood stage is the primary factor. More advanced stages require more grafts for natural coverage.

Donor Density

The density of your permanent horseshoe zone determines how many grafts can safely be harvested in one session.

Hair Calibre

Thicker hair covers more scalp per graft. Fine or light-coloured hair requires more grafts to achieve the same visual density.

Scalp Laxity

Loose scalp allows more grafts. Tight scalp limits session size. Dr. Arslan assesses this at your consultation.

Surgeon's Note

"Any calculator — including this one — gives you a starting point. Your real graft count depends on what I see when I examine your donor area. I have patients who look like Norwood 4 but have donor density of a Norwood 2. The number always changes after I see the hair."
