Before Hair Transplant: Important Guidelines & Preparation Steps

At Hairmedico, ensuring your safety, comfort, and the success of your hair transplant begins long before the procedure itself. Following these essential pre-operation guidelines helps achieve the best results and ensures a smooth experience.

Blood Tests: Mandatory Before Your Hair Transplant

You are required to undergo the following blood tests prior to your procedure and share the results with our team in advance:

  • Anti HBs (Hepatitis B Surface Antibody)
  • Anti HCV (Hepatitis C Antibody)
  • Anti HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)

If you are unable to complete these tests before arriving, we will conduct them at our Istanbul clinic. Please note:

  • If any test result is positive, your procedure may be canceled for safety reasons.
  • In such cases, 30% of the total procedure fee will be charged to cover preparatory costs.

Medication Restrictions

Aspirin Use

  • Do not take aspirin for at least 5 days before and after your hair transplant.
  • If you are taking aspirin for heart-related conditions, consult your cardiologist before stopping the medication.

Alcohol & Smoking Guidelines

Alcohol

  • Avoid alcohol consumption for at least 3 days before and after your procedure.
  • Alcohol can thin the blood and increase the risk of bleeding during surgery.

Smoking

  • Refrain from smoking for at least 1 day before and after the procedure.
  • Reducing or quitting smoking in the weeks following your transplant can significantly improve healing and graft survival.

Why Pre-Procedure Preparation Matters

Following these pre-operation steps helps:
✅ Reduce the risk of complications
✅ Enhance healing and graft survival
✅ Ensure you are fully prepared for a successful hair transplant experience at Hairmedico
