What 1,500 grafts achieves
1,500 grafts = approximately 3,500–4,500 individual hairs. This is the most common session size for Norwood II–III patients — enough to fully restore the frontal hairline and temple points, and begin addressing early crown thinning if present. Results are typically natural and dense enough to satisfy patients without requiring an immediate second session.

FUE vs DHI for 1,500 grafts
Both FUE and DHI are appropriate for a 1,500-graft session. DHI is preferred when the recipient area contains existing hair that must be preserved between implantations — common in hairline refinement cases. FUE is preferred for faster session completion and when the recipient area is predominantly bald. Dr. Arslan makes this decision at consultation based on individual anatomy.
Timeline of results
At 1,500 grafts, the growth phase is typically satisfying from month 6 onward. By month 10, the frontal zone looks dense and natural. The combination of transplanted DHT-resistant hair and properly designed hairline creates a result that ages gracefully alongside native hair. Patients receiving Finasteride post-operatively typically maintain better 10-year outcomes as native hair is protected.

Common questions
What is a graft in hair transplant surgery?
A graft is a follicular unit — a natural grouping of 1–4 hair follicles as they occur in the scalp. Each graft is extracted individually in FUE. 2,000 grafts typically yields 4,000–6,000 individual hairs depending on your average follicular unit hair count.
How many grafts do I need?
Graft requirements depend on Norwood stage, scalp size, hair calibre, and target density. Norwood III: 1,500–2,500. Norwood IV: 2,500–3,500. Norwood V: 3,000–4,500. Dr. Arslan calculates a precise number from trichoscopy assessment — free with 3 photographs via WhatsApp.
What is a good graft survival rate?
90%+ is good; 95%+ is excellent. At Hairmedico, Dr. Arslan achieves 95%+ documented graft survival. Budget technician-run clinics average 60–75%. The difference in a 3,000-graft session: over 800 fewer viable follicles.
Can I get too many grafts in one session?
Yes. Over-extraction depletes the donor zone permanently and cannot be corrected. Safe single-session limits are 3,000–4,500 grafts for most patients. Dr. Arslan's Algorithmic FUE approach plans within lifetime donor budgets, never over-extracts.
