Graft handling — the invisible quality difference

Every extracted graft spends time outside the body before being implanted. At Hairmedico: grafts go immediately into chilled preservation solution; temperature is monitored throughout; grafts are handled only with specialised fine-tipped instruments; out-of-body time is minimised by the single-patient protocol. At high-volume clinics: grafts may wait in non-chilled saline while technical staff attend other patients; storage quality varies; out-of-body time increases with each additional simultaneous patient. None of this is visible to the patient. All of it affects graft survival.

Channel creation — the step patients never see

Channel creation is the most artistically and technically demanding phase. Done by an experienced surgeon: each channel is placed at the exact angle and direction that produces natural-looking hair direction at 12 months. Done by an undertrained technician: channels placed mechanically at a standard angle without the individual assessment that produces naturalness. Patients never see this step. They see the result 12 months later. The result is determined by these invisible decisions.

Presence — being there for the whole thing

In a multi-patient clinic, the named surgeon may be present for the hairline design and the first minutes of implantation. For the 6+ hours of extraction and middle hours of implantation, they may be managing other patients. Patients do not see this. At Hairmedico, I am there for everything — from the design session at 08:30 to the final graft at 17:00. This is what a surgeon-led practice means. It distinguishes us from the majority of Istanbul's hair transplant operations more than any other single factor.
