Why Redness Occurs
After FUE or DHI, the scalp undergoes micro-trauma from extraction and channel creation. Blood vessels dilate, inflammatory mediators activate, and circulation increases to promote healing. This produces temporary redness, warmth, tightness, mild swelling and scalp sensitivity. It is a healthy inflammatory response — not a complication.
Typical Redness Timeline

Managing Scalp Sensitivity
- Days 1–14: Use only prescribed shampoo and gentle patting — never rubbing or scratching
- Sun exposure: Wear a loose soft hat outdoors — UV worsens redness and may hyperpigment healing skin
- Heat: No saunas, steam rooms or hot showers for 3 weeks
- Exercise: Avoid sweating near the scalp for 2 weeks — heat and sweat prolong redness
